Abstract
1,193,462. Pesticides containing benzimidazoles. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 5 May, 1967 [6 May, 1966], No. 887/70 Divided out of 1,193,461. Heading A5E. [[Also in Division C2] Compositions having fungicidal and mite ovicidal activity comprise one or more compounds of the general formula:- (wherein R 1 is methyl, ethyl or isopropyl, and R 3 is alkyl of 1-8 carbon atoms; phenyl which may be substituted by one or more of methyl, methoxy, nitro, and halogen; benzyl which may be substituted by one or more of methyl, methoxy, nitro and halogen; cycloalkyl-alkyl of 7 or 8 carbon atoms; or cyclohexyl which may be substituted by methyl) together with a solid or liquid carrier. The compositions, having a systemic action, are suitable (for controlling many fungus diseases of fruits, tubers, seeds and other plant parts, and also for the protection of wood, fabric, fibre board, paper, other industrial materials and household articles against rot and discoloration. The formulations may contain other active ingredients (over 100 listed) in addition to conventional adjuvants and carriers. Specified formulations include the following methyl 2-benzimidazole carbamates:- 1 -methylcarbamoyl; 1-butylcarbamoyl; 1- isobutylcarbamoyl; 1-(2-methylcyclohexyl) carbamoyl; 1-heptylcarbamoyl; 1-phenylcarbamoyl; 1-(3,4-dichlorophenyl) carbamoyl; and 1-(p-nitrophenyl) carbamoyl; with tetramethylthiurane disulphide, metlayl O-(methylcarbamyl)-thiolacetohydroxamate, amethyl-O-(carbamyl)thiolacetohydroxamate, and methoxychlor as additional active ingredients.
