1,192,056. Control of stepping motors. GERBER SCIENTIFIC INSTRUMENT CO. 31 Oct., 1967 [25 July, 1967], No. 49411/67. Heading H2J. A stepping motor 10 is energized with sequential pulses at a variable rate from a driver 12, which may comprise transistors, the supply voltage being increased with increasing speed by a regulator 24 responsive to a speed sensor 30. The speed sensor may be driven by the motor shaft or it may respond to the frequency of the energizing pulses. To prevent zero voltage at zero speed a minimum voltage signal is provided from a potentiometer 40. The object is to economize on the switching transistors.
