Abstract

1,191,706. Road rollers. STAVOSTROJ NARODNI PODNIK. 14 Sept., 1967 [16 Sept., 1966], No. 42041/67. Heading B7H. A road roller has a vibratory cylinder 1 mounted in side members 10, 11 of the roller frame 3 by means of resilient damping elements 2 which extend through apertures in the side members and are each in contact with the edge of the respective aperture. Removal of the cylinder 1 from the frame 3 in a direction perpendicular to the cylinder axis is permitted by openings 17, 18 formed in the side members 10, 11 and extending either vertically as shown, obliquely or horizontally. The damping elements 2 are seated in support members 4, 5 carrying bearings 25, 26 for the cylinder end plates 27, 28 and are pre-compressed by pressure plates 12 which are detachable to allow removal of the damping elements axially of the cylinder 1. A vibrator shaft 14 carrying eccentric masses 13 is journalled by ball bearings 29, 30 in the end plates 27, 28 and driven through a pulley 15. A shaft 19 on one end plate 28 carries a drive sprocket 16. In other embodiments, no opening 17, 18 is provided in one or both side members 10, 11, and the pulley and/or sprocket is secured to a taper on the vibrator shaft or end plate respectively by an axial bolt.
