Abstract

1,105,392. Rollers. STOTHERT & PITT Ltd. 28 July, 1966, No. 33975/66. Heading B7H. The rolls of a non-steerable, tandem motor roller are mounted on cantilever shafts and each has a concentrically mounted vibration device, there being a single chain drive to both rolls and separate belt and pulley drives to the vibrators, the drives all being mounted on one side of the vehicle. The vehicle frame has a pair of side plates 6 upon one of which is mounted a pair of protecting plates 11 by means of angle members 7, 8, 9, and 7<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>1</SP>, 9<SP>1</SP>. In each plate 11 is mounted an arm 14 to which the cantilever shaft C is attached. At this side of the vehicle, each roll P is mounted on a bearing 31 mounted on the vibrator shaft 27. The two part housing 28, 30 of bearing 31 has an extension 32 mounted on bearings in a member 33 which is connected by a rubber-inshear member 34 and a component 35 to a member 36 mounted in the plate 11. The driving sprocket 4 (4<SP>1</SP>) for the roller is mounted on bearings on the member 36 and is connected by trailing link couplings 42 to the roller, thus being between the plates 6 and 11. The driving pulley 25 (24) for the vibrator is mounted on the shaft 27 beneath the arm 14. Tensioner pulleys 44, 44<SP>1</SP> are provided for the belts 21, 22 driving the pulleys 24 and 25 and a tensioner sprocket 43<SP>1</SP> for the chain 3 for driving the sprocket 4.
