1,188,980. Motor vehicle steering wheel assemblies. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 18 Nov., 1967, No. 62544/67. Heading B7J. A motor vehicle steering wheel assembly comprises a collapsible corrugated (or stepped) cylinder 17 which is fixed to a hub 19 splined to a steering shaft 20 and which is welded to a collar 15 welded in the central aperture 13 of a three-spoked pressing 5, the cylinder 17 and the spokes being coated with a single-piece 25 of foamed self-skinning plastics (e.g. polyurethane) applied by moulding, and the rim ring 1 and the outer ends of the spokes being coated with a hard plastics 24 (e.g. cellulose acetate) or a hard rubber.
