Abstract

1332169 Extension wheels for tractors F A STANDEN & SONS (ENG) Ltd 20 Oct 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 57608/70 Addition to 1239763 Heading B7C The tractor extension wheel of Specification 1,239,763 is modified in that spokes 3 are rigidly connected at their radially outer ends to the rim of the wheel and some spokes carry pivotable location brackets for engagement with a tractor wheel rim in addition to fixed lugs or location brackets 10 carried by other spokes. Each pivotable location bracket may comprise a part 11 secured to the associated spoke 3 and having a pivot pin 12 carrying a pivotable part 13 for movement between stops 14 on the part 11, in use the part 13 being pivoted into secure engagement with the tractor wheel rim as the extension wheel is drawn axially inwardly towards the tractor wheel by turning a nut 9 against a hub 6 carrying the radially inner ends of the spokes 3. The pivotable brackets are preferably located in diametrically opposed positions to the fixed brackets, the relative numbers of fixed and pivotable brackets depending on the number of spokes 3. In another modification the cage or openwork rim of the wheel in Fig. 1 is replaced by a single channel-section hoop to which radially outwardly directed spade lugs are secured, and in a further modification a rim capable of carrying a pneumatic tyre is provided.
