1,188,904. Variable-speed ratchet gear. F. C. BARTHOLOMEW. 29 Jan., 1969 [21 Feb., 1968], No. 8395/68. Heading F2D. One, three or more phased driving cranks 11 oscillate an arm 3, one-way mounted at 1 on a driven shaft 2, through a compression spring 9, providing speed-ratio adjustment automatic with load. The spring 9 is mounted on a connecting rod 6 sliding through a trunnion on the arm 3, and has a light adjustable return spring 10.
