Abstract
1,184,420. Centrifugal pumps. UNELEC. March 8, 1967 [Nov.24, 1966], No.56699/69. Divided out of 1,184,176. Heading F1C. In an electric motor-pump in which the pump impeller 13 is mounted on the same bearing bush 8 as the planar motor rotor, the bearing is of a material, e.g. graphite or ceramic, lubricated by the pumped liquid, and the pump delivery is controlled by a cup-shaped baffle 15 which may be moved axially by rod 18 against spring 22, to regulate the amount of liquid passing back from the outlet side of the impeller to its inlet. The axial position of rod 18 is determined by the angular position of a pin 27 projecting from the rod and engaging a helical toothed surface 21. The rotational position of the rod 18 is fixed by bending down a strip 23 into a fixed recess 26. The rotor may be manually freed by rotation of cup 15 in engagement with pins 24. The impeller is of fibreglass.
