Abstract

1,181,147. Firearms. W. V. T. GILBERT. 18 May, 1967, No. 23068/67. Heading F3C. A firearm 10 comprises a barrel 14 having a muzzle and a gunstock 16 including a hand grip portion 24 underlying the barrel and a cheek engaging portion 28 extending rearwardly away from the barrel and beyond the end thereof. The gunstock 16 is formed towards its rearward end with an upwardly open pocket 44 comprising a generally L-shaped crooked member 38 disposed in a generally vertical plane and including a section 40 extending rearwardly from the gunstock 16. The crooked member 38 further includes an arm 42 disposed generally vertically to the section 40. The rearwardly extending section 40 may include means for varying the length of the section. To this end the section 40 includes a pair of telescoping members having a plurality of alignable holes therein, pins being placed in the aligned holes (or hole) to retain the telescoping members in fixed relationship (Figs. 4, 5, not shown). In a further embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) the telescoping members includes an inner member having a longitudinal slot with an elongated threaded member positioned therein and parallel to the axis thereof, the threaded member receiving a nut which is housed in a transverse opening in an outer telescopic member.
