Abstract

1,180,575. Water closets. B. BALSAY. 14 Feb., 1967 [22 Feb., 1966; 26 Aug., 1966], No. 7014/67. Heading E1C. Ventilation and cleaning of a water closet pan are provided by an electrically-operated fan 20 sucking air from the rim 14 via chamber 23 and pipe 21 and passing it through a filter 26, and by the provision of a compartment, e.g. 27, in communication with the normal flow path of the flush water, in which compartment a clearing agent or preparation of powdered, granulated, &c. form can be placed. In the embodiment shown, inlet ports 30 allow flush water into the compartment 27, whence it passes through outlets 31. The cleansing agent may take the form of a detergent stick moulded on to a plug and placed in a perforated casing which stick is passed through an upper hole into the compartment. The compartment may alternatively be positioned on the flush pipe (Fig. 8, not shown) or integral with the cistern, forming the outlet therefrom.
