Abstract

1,178,272. Elevated railways; single rail vehicles. JANUSPOLE (DESIGNERS) Ltd. 9 Jan., 1968 [9 Jan., 1967], No. 1140/67. Heading B7L. An overhead monorail trolley, Figs. 1 and 4, comprises an elongated body 10 provided with end wheels 16 engaging the track rail 20 to support the body 10 above the rail, a central friction wheel 24 mounted in the body on a transverse shaft 25, and a pulley wheel 27 secured on the shaft 25 and around which passes an endless drive rope 29 which may be pulled to rotate the friction wheel 24 and thus move the trolley along the rail. The shaft 25 can move towards or away from the rail 20 by passing through elongated slots 26 in the body and side plates 21, 18 carried thereby, the shaft and thus the wheel 24 being urged towards the rail by a spring 13a. The rope 29 passes round guide rollers 30, 31 and 32 and through swing hooks 37, 38 all on the plate 18, which serves to suspend one rope of a workmen's cradle. An extensionpiece 40 on the trolley supports a two-wheeled trolley 41 and a bracket 42 for suspending another cradle rope.
