Abstract

1,177,034. Switchgear structures; gas break isolating switches. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. 4 April, 1968 [6 April, 1967], No. 16353/68. Heading H1N. In a metal-clad switchgear housed in a plurality of tubular casing sections 1, 2, 3 separated by sealed insulating bulkheads 6, 13, a double break isolator comprises two series connected movable contacts 4, 5 supported in a central housing I<SP>1</SP>, inside one section 1, by a bulkhead 6 and co-operating with fixed contacts 10, 11 similarly supported in adjacent sections 2, 3. An earthing contact 12 is supported from the wall of section 1 and movable to engage with housing I<SP>1</SP> to earth the movable contacts 4, 5 in their open position. The contacts 4, 5 are operated by an overcentre linkage 7-9.
