Abstract

A three-pole circuit breaker (1) is designed for HV installations using a high dielectric strength gas, usually sulphur hexafluoride as an insulator within an armoured enclosure. The rotating section of the switch has a limited vertical movement overcoming the large volume requirements associated with vertical movement with respect to the conductor bar direction. The switch gear is in two basic linked compartments where the conductor sets are positioned at right angles to each other on two pairs of insulators which are set end to end on four flanges extending from the switch casing. Each of the insulators at the same level in both compartments are coaxial.
