Abstract
1,175,559. Tea leaf processing machine. P. J. PARR. 11 Dec., 1967 [9 Dec., 1966], No. 56168/67. Addition to 1,099,758. Heading A2B. In a tea leaf processing machine comprising a stationary barrel 1 having a plurality of pins or like resistors 2 projecting from the inner wall of the barrel, there being a discharge end 3 and a feed end provided with a helical feed worm 7 at the feed end and a plurality of sets of vanes 8, there being a frusto-conical attachment 10 at the discharge end provided with helically disposed flutes, all as set forth in Specification 1,099,758, there is provided a sleeve 9 which is slidably mounted within the barrel adjacent the discharge end thereof, in the space between the inner wall of the barrel and the frusto conical extension. Preferably the sleeve is shaped as shown, and is provided with internally projecting pins. A packing at the inner end may be provided to prevent tea material getting between the barrel and the sleeve. In a modification, instead of helically displaced flutes, the frustoconical attachment may be provided with projecting pins, which preferably do not come into contact with the pins on the sleeve.
