1,175,368. Vibrating screens. CARL SCHENCK MASCHINENFABRIK G.m.b.H. 23 Dec., 1966 [28 Dec., 1965; 3 Jan., 1966; 5 Feb., 1966], No. 57729/66. Heading B2H. A vibrating screen 9 for particulate materials is driven by two unbalanced means 4, 8 which are independently rotated about axes 5, 7, extending transversely of the direction of conveyance of the materials on the screen, at different speeds related by a ratio of two whole or substantially whole numbers chosen from among the numbers 1 to 10 inclusive. The term "substantially whole number" is defined as a number which differs slightly from an integral value. The screen 9 is mounted in a box I supported at an angle of 20 to 40‹ on a base 3 by springs 2. Shafts 5, 7 carry out-of-balance sector-shaped weights 4, 8 and are driven by motors (not shown) mounted outside or inside the screen box. The shafts may rotate in the same or in opposite directions. In a modification, the unbalance means are connected through gearing, the reduction ratio of which corresponds to the speed ratio. Diagrams of various compound oscillations are given.
