Abstract

1,174,698. Mobile jib-cranes. RUSTON-BUCYRUS Ltd. 23 May, 1968 [29 June, 1967], No. 24554/68. Heading B8B. So that a crane boom 2, Fig. 1, may be retracted for travelling, the boom foot is pivoted at 4 to a pair of arms 5 which are rotated through 180 degrees by a ram 12 and a pivoted actuating arm 9. Only one arm 9 is provided and the two arms 5 are connected by a torque tube 7. The arm 9 is connected to the arm 5 by a pin 10 and slot 11. A wheel 15, Fig. 1, supports the outer end of the boom during retraction and in the later stages the boom rides up on to the vehicle on rollers 16. Pivots 7, 8, Fig. 2, are off-set to avoid a dead-shot when the arms 5 go over-centre. Specification 1,173,987 is referred to.
