Abstract

1,038,636. Load handling machines. K. KLAUS. Oct. 7, 1963 [Oct. 4, 1962], No. 39410/63. Heading B8H. [Also in Division E1] A loading device on a vehicle 2 comprises an articulated jib 10 pivotally connected at 9 to a frame 7 which is rotatable about an axis 8 on a structure 6 so that the jib can be operated either in the full line position with a raised luffing axis 9 or in the dashed line position with a lowered luffing axis 9<SP>1</SP>. A luffing ram is connected between points 11, 12 on the frame 7 and jib 10 respectively, and a ram is connected between points 17, 18 on the two sections 13, 14 of the jib respectively. The outer section of the jib is provided with a hook 19 and may be replaced by a section 14<SP>1</SP> provided with an excavating shovel 20. The structure 6 is mounted on a turntable 5 on a base 3 and a cable 21, Fig. 2, is secured to the frame 7 at 23, passes round the frame 7, round rollers 24, 25 on the turntable 5 to an anchorage 26 on the base 3, so that if the turntable 5 is rotated in the direction 27, the cable 21 rotates the frame 7 on the structure 6. By repositioning the cable around the frame 7, Fig. 3 (not shown), the frame is returned from its position 7<SP>1</SP> to its original position on rotating the turntable in the direction 27.
