Abstract

1,174,442. Selective printing. INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd. 6 Jan., 1967, No. 906/67. Heading B6F. A selective printer having a continuously rotating type carrier, which is formed by a plurality of axially aligned type wheels (not shown) is provided with a hammer assembly comprising a plurality of hammers 15, one for each type wheel, mounted pivotally on pins 12 in hammer supports 1 each of which includes a hammer portion 3 and a foot portion 2 attached by screws 24, 23 to a hammer assembly block 21. Distal ends of hammers are provided with armatures 13 which are spring biased to abut, in their inoperative positions, respective rebound preventing back stops formed by a resilient bronze spring having a number of fingers 27 which are fitted with resilient pads 28. The hammers are actuated for impression by electro - magnetic coils which are mounted on polepieces 5 carried by the hammer supports 1. Interference between the coils is prevented by shields 20 of magnetic material.
