Abstract

1,159,751. Selective printers. INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd. 6 Jan., 1967, No. 907/67. Heading B6F. A print hammer module for a continuously rotating type carrier (not shown) comprises a number of hammer sub-assemblies, one for each character position and comprising an integral structure 1 having a foot 2 and a head 3 interconnected by a pair of projections 5 which carry epoxy resin embedded coils 6 for an armature 13 pivotally mounted on the structure 1 and supporting at its free end a print hammer 15. The hammer is biased away from its operative position by a leaf spring 17 which abuts a pin 19 on the structure 1. In another embodiment the pivotal mounting of the hammer is modified in that a polytetrafluoroethylene sleeve 28 (Fig. 2) having a low coefficient of friction is mounted on the pin 12. The print hammer sub-assemblies are mounted on a block by means of locating pins 9 received in holes 22 of an assembly block 21, and screws 23, 24 received in holes provided in the heads 3 and feet 2, respectively. Adjustable impact; rebound preventing arrangements.-The hammer impact is adjusted by a stop 16 which is mounted on the head 3 and the stop may be lined with a resilient pad 30 (Fig. 2) to reduce rebound, which may further be reduced by a series of resilient members 27, Fig. 3, arranged along the inner surfaces of the block 21 for co-operation with the free ends of armatures 13.
