Abstract

1,172,386. Temperature responsive actuating elements. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS ITALIA S.p.A. Nov. 24, 1966 [Sept. 1, 1966], No. 52681/66. Heading G1D. [Also in Division H1] A temperature responsive actuator for an electrical switch comprises a first snap-acting bi-metallic disc 4 which reverses its curvature at a first temperature, a second bi-metallic disc 6 which operates at a second temperature, a third disc 5 of non-bi-metallic material being interposed between the discs 4, 6 and a stem 7 bearing on the discs so that when the first temperature is reached the disc 4 snaps over and displaces the stem to close contacts F, G and when the second temperature is reached the disc 6 operates to further move the contacts F and G to close against a contact 11. The discs 4, 5, 6 are contained in a metal cover 3 which contacts the material or element whose temperature is to be sensed.
