Abstract
521,236. Thermal switches. METALS & CONTROLS CORPORATION. Aug. 9, 1938, No. 3365/40. Convention date, Feb. 7, 1938. Divided out of 519,976 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 10, 1939. [Class 38 (v)] In a thermostatic control device, increase of temperature, e.g., from a heating wire 16, causes a bimetallic disc or like member 9 to snap downwards into its other position; normal fall of temperature is insufficient to cause the disc to return and resetting is effected by pressure on a push button 47 against the action of a spring 45. The button 47 carries a plate 43 shaped as in Fig. 9 and having projections 48 which bear on the bimetallic disc. The movement of the button is however insufficient to hold the disc in its upper position should a rise of temperature again occur. The bimetallic disc carries two contacts 12, 13 adapted to engage fixed contacts 36. The switch may protect a motor against overload, Figs. 12-14 not shown.
