Abstract

1,163,632. Bearings. SIEMENS A.G. 25 April, 1967 [26 April, 1966], No. 19084/67. Heading F2A. A rotatable shaft 4, having a magnetic body 1 attached thereto, is supported by means of a magnetic body 2. An air gap is formed between the bodies 1, 2 and comprises an inner portion formed by surfaces 1A, 2A of the bodies 1, 2 respectively. The air gap is wider at the outer portion thereof. Each body is formed with an annular recess 1c or 2c. In a modification (not shown) one of the bodies 1 or 2 has the surface 1A or 2A in the same plane as the surface 1B or 2B. In another embodiment as shown in Fig. 2, each of bodies 1, 2 comprises a permanent magnet 11 and a housing 12. The air gap is formed between surfaces 1A, 2A of the magnets and surfaces 1B, 2B of the housings. In a modification (not shown) one of the magnets 11 has the surface 1A or 2A in the same plane as the surface 1B or 2B of the housing 12.
