Abstract

1,160,987. Treating pigments. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 31 Aug., 1967 [14 Sept., 1966], No. 41027/66. Headings C1A and C1N. [Also in Division C4] Pigments are converted into a substantially dry finely-divided form by a process which comprises the steps of cooling a suspension of the finely-divided pigment in an organic medium which is not a solvent for and does not react with the pigment until the organic medium is in the solid form, and reducing the pressure to evaporate the organic medium. Specified pigments include carbon blacks and inorganic pigments such as chrome pigments, viz. chromates of Pb, Zn, Ba and Ca, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, cadmium sulphide and sulphoselenide and iron oxides. An example is given in which carbon black is so treated.
