Abstract

1,160,724. Taking up slack in cables. L. ADLINGTON. 7 Nov., 1966, No. 49715/66. Heading B8B. Cables 11a, 11b for conducting electricity from fixed terminals 18a, 18b to apparatus moving along a fixed track between points A and B, are wound in opposite direction on opposite halves of a drum 5 mounted for free rotation on brackets 1 moving with the apparatus. A fixed hollow spindle 2 on the brackets 1 mounts slip rings 6 which are engaged by spring urged brushes coupled to the ends of cables 11a, 11b on the drum. Conductors are led from the slip rings to the electrical apparatus. The cables are guided on to and off of the drum 5 by a guide member slidable transversely of the drum periphery.
