Abstract

1,159,911. Propellants. NORTH AMERICAN AVIATION Inc. 13 Oct., 1966, No. 45839/66. Heading C1D. [Also in Division C3] A binder for solid propellants consists of a carboxy terminated polybutadiene that has been reacted with either vinyl cyclohexene dioxide or 1,3 - bis - [3 - (2,3 - epoxypropoxy)- propyl] - tetramethyl disiloxane. Suitable fuels include particulate metals, e.g. aluminium, and suitable oxidizing agents include metal and ammonium perchlorates and nitrates; several suitable fuels and oxidizing agents are listed. Specified metal and metal oxide burning catalysts and burning rate modifiers may also be present. The composition may be cured e.g. with tris-1-(2-methyl)-aziridinyl phosphine oxide.
