1292610 Explosive compositions EXPLOSIVES CORP OF AMERICA 23 Dec 1969 62566/69 Heading C1D An explosive composition comprises hydrazinium nitrate (with or without ammonium nitrate), hydrazine (with or without ammonia), and particulate aluminium. Hydrazine may be mixed with hydrazinium nitrate or with ammonium nitrate and then the aluminium added; ammonia is removed by mixing under vacuum at elevated temperature. Also included may be minor amounts of alkali metal nitrates, calcium nitrate, aluminium nitrate, hydrazinium perchlorate, alkali metal perchlorates, and calcium perchlorate. Finely divided silica, guar gum, a carboxy vinyl polymer, or carbon black may be added as gelling or thickening agents and water, glycerine, glycol, wax, orhydrocarbon stove oil as desensitizing agents. In order to depress the freezing point of the composition, hydrazinium thiocyanate may be included.
