Abstract

1,159,305. Transferring containers to and from vehicles. W. E. & F. DOBSON Ltd. 5 April, 1968 [5 April, 1967], No. 15506/67. Heading B8E. A load-carrying appliance such as a frame, platform, chassis, container or room is supported by hydraulically extensible legs while a vehicle is driven under it for loading. A container 1 has four hydraulic jack legs 3, 4 pivotally mounted on axes 3b, 4b in recesses 8, 9, 10 at the corners each pair being connected by hydraulic jacks 17, 18 to a central bracket 19. In the container supporting position the jacks 17, 18 are extended to splay the legs outwards and from this position, Fig. 4, the legs are extended to raise the container so that a vehicle can be positioned under it. Contraction of the leg jacks 3, 4 lowers the container 1 on to the vehicle chassis 13 and by further contraction of the jacks 3, 4 and of jacks 17, 18 the container is centred on the chassis 13 by engagement of depending plates 20, 21 and is held down thereon by the leg feet 3d, 4d with the legs in a vertical position in the recesses 8, 9, Fig. 6.
