Abstract
1,159,125. Fluid cooling radiators. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 1 Oct., 1966, No. 43953/66. Heading F4S. A cooling radiator for a motor vehicle comprises fins 1 supported by a tube 2 which has resilient mounting bushings 10 at each end, the ends of the fins being free and coolant being circulated from the tube 2 through a coolant passage in the fins. Each fin is formed with a single passage 8 or four passages (Figs. 3, 4) each having one end connected to an inlet passage 4 and the other to an outlet passage 5 in the tube 2. The fins shown are each stiffened by a rib 9 and may be perforated and/or corrugated. They may be inclined to the direction of air flow and may be interconnected by upright vanes. In another embodiment, two support tubes are provided, one serving as a coolant inlet and the other as an outlet. The respective length of the fins may differ to suit the space into which the radiator is to be installed.
