Abstract

1369513 Turbomachine blade fixing GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 10 Jan 1972 [19 April 1971] 1042/72 Heading FIT The roots 26 of rotor blades 24 in a fluidflow machine, e.g. a compressor, are prevented from sliding rearwardly out of mounting slots 16 by a resilient wedge ring 30 having an inclined surface 36 abutting a corresponding surface 34 on rotor flange 32 such that centrifugal radial growth causes wedge ring 30 to be urged axially into engagement with end faces 39 of roots 26. The latter are prevented from moving forwardly out of slots 16 by a locking ring 44 retained by projections 40 on the face 13 of rotor disc 12. Flange 32 is formed on a second rotor disc 14 which also has a radially inner flange 31 engaging disc 12 via splines 51, 52. Leakage between the splines is prevented by a resilient plastic ring 53. Wedge ring 30 is also of plastic, e.g. polyimide.
