Abstract

1,153,352. Refrigerating; heat pumps. CARRIER CORP. 9 June, 1966 [8 July, 1965(2)], No. 25781/66. Heading F4H. A water circuit connects in heat exchange relationship the condenser 13 of a compressioncondensation system 11 and the evaporator 24 of a second compression-condesation system 25 so that heat available in the first system may be rejected at the condenser of the second system to satisfy a heating requirement. The evaporator 15 of the first system gives up cold to a circuit 18 for delivery at 20 to satisfy a cooling load. Heat for the condenser 32 of the second system is delivered at 36 by a further water circuit 34a. The intermediate water circuit includes a cooling tower 27 for dissipating heat not required by the heating load. A tower by-pass 30 leading to a sump 28 is controlled by a temperature senser 30a and valve 26 to maintain a constant temperature in the sump. A heater 37 is provided in the water circuit 34a to provide additional heat at the load 36 when required. The compressors of the refrigeration systems may be reciprocating or centrifugal.
