Heading E1B A metal shingle comprises a rectangular body portion 16, integral wedge shaped sides 17 and 18, a U-shaped channel 19 integral with side -18, and a rectangular front wall 23, interlocking being provided by a holding strip 26 projecting from the lower edge of the front wall and a strip 28 having upturned portions 31 projecting from the top edge 29. The shingles are secured to a roof sheathing by nails through holes 32, mastic being applied to the rear of the strip 26 and the channel base 34 to provide a seal.
