Brushgear for miniature electric motors comprises a brush holding resilient arm 1 having at least two integral oblique lugs 4, 4<SP>1</SP> formed on two parallel edges 5, 5<SP>1</SP> of a hole 3 into which an end portion 6 of a brush 2 is inserted whereby the lugs resiliently engage such portion and a shoulder 8, 81 adjacent the portion abuts the arm surface. The arm may be of Cu or a beryllium alloy. The brush end portion surfaces 7, 7<SP>1</SP> may be roughened, grooved or dovetailed, and the arm edges 5, 5<SP>1</SP> may be roughened or sawtoothed, to improve the frictional retention.
