Abstract

1,147,175. Anchoring bolts. FIRTH CLEVELAND FASTENINGS Ltd. 27 Oct., 1967 [8 Nov., 1966], No. 49947/66. Heading F2H. [Also in Divisions E2 and F4] A retaining clip for use with an adjusting screw 12 having a polygonal head 13, a screwthreaded shank 14, and a cylindrical slotted boss 16 comprises a one-piece strip 1 of resilient sheet metal bent to U-shape to provide two arms 7, 8 adapted to receive between them, the head 13 of the screw and a planar mounting 18 for the screw, one of the arms being forked to receive the shank of the screw between the prongs of the fork and the other arm being provided with an orifice for snap-fitting over the boss on the screw head to bias the head into contact with the mounting when the head and mounting are received between the arms of the clip, and an integral spring finger 5 provided on the clip to bear against the polygonal sides of the screw head 13 to bias the screw against rotation. As shown, rotation of the clip is prevented by the abutment of the bight portion 9 of the clip with an edge 21 of the mounting. The mounting 18 may be a lug bent out from the rim of a vehicle headlamp which is so adjustably secured to a head lamp housing.
