An ignition device for the gas burner 1 of a refrigerator comprises an electrode 7 between which and the burner tube 3 a spark gap is formed and the electrode 7 which is connected to a step-up transformer 5 comprises a bimetallic strip so that on ignition of the burner the electrode moves away from the burner tube, increasing the spark gap and extinguishing the spark, so that the current load of the transformer drops and the voltage rises to strike a neon lamp 10 to indicate successful ignition.
