Abstract
1,225,364. Igniting pilot flames. GENERAL MOTORS Ltd. 13 March, 1969 [21 March, 1968], No. 13716/68. Heading F4F. A gas fuelled pilot light and electrical igniter assembly comprises a hollow metal shell 3 connected to a gas supply 9, a tubular insulator 1 ecured thereto, an electrode 4, electrically onnected to the shell by a perforate disc 6 and mounted coaxially within and projecting from the insulator 1, and a second electrode 11 forming a spark gap 13 with the first, the electrode 4 and insulator 1 being arranged to permit gas to be discharged adjacent the spark gap for ignition by a spark. The gas passage may surround a rod-shaped electrode, as shown, or pass through a tubular electrode (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown). An apertured plug may be located in the gas inlet 9 to restrict the flow of gas (Fig. 4, not shown).
