1,144,179. Rolling annular bodies. LADISH CO. 8 Oct., 1966, No. 45067/66. Heading B3M. Apparatus for rolling a cylindrical workpiece 14 includes a motor driven faceplate 11 to which the workpiece is clamped, and freely rotatable rollers 28 and 30 which can be fed axially and radially relative to the workpiece. Each pair of rollers 28, 30 is mounted on a carriage 17 which is axially movable by means of a driven screw 18. A slide 21, carrying the roller 30, is adjustable by an hydraulic cylinder 22 relative to the carriage 17, while a further slide 24, carrying the roller 28, is movable along the slide 21 by means of a cylinder 25. By suitably controlling the radial and axial feeds of the rollers a workpiece may simply be reduced in wall thickness, while retaining its mean diameter, or profiled or ribbed workpieces, Fig. 7, may be prepared. The feeds of the rollers may be under the control of hydraulic tracer units.
