A photographic processing apparatus is constructed as a roundabout rotating on a central vertical shaft 1, and having a number of radial arms 4 whose extremities are connected by cross rods 6, so forming a polygonal structure. Along rods 6 are a number of hooks which engage in perforations in the upper edges of the films (e.g. X-ray films) to be processed, so that the films hang from the rods. The whole structure can be raised and lowered, so that the films can be moved down into respective baths or other processing stations, lifted out again, and then indexed round one position and the process repeated. In Figs. 1 and 2 the sequence of processing stations consists of a loading station 8, a developing bath 9, a first rinsing bath 10, a fixing bath 11, a second rinsing bath 12 with squeegee rollers 13 above it, and a drying station 14. Unloading is effected at the initial loading station 8. The whole sequence is carried out automatically, and the loading and unloading is also automatic Fig. 3 (not shown). The apparatus is enclosed in a housing, and can be operated in a dark room. Each face of the housing may have an inspection window, for use with non- actinic light.
