Abstract
1,109,521. Contact printing and processing apparatus. G. MATTHAES. March 9, 1965 [March 9, 1964], No.10012/65. Heading G2A. An apparatus for the photographic production of printing plates (e.g. for printed circuits) comprises a roundabout having a plurality of radial arms B arranged round a central upright C. From each arm a plate is suspended by means of the bracket arrangement of Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), so that it can be lowered into a treatment tank disposed below it. The plates are loaded at station 2, cleaned at 3, dipped into a tank of photosensitive coating material at 4, dried at 5, and cooled at 6. Then two printing stations 7 and 8 enable the plate to be printed on both sides, after which they are developed at 9, coloured at 10, washed at 11, dried at 12, and unloaded at 1. The printing station is shown in more detail in Fig. 4, a glass plate 31 carrying the negative 24 which is to be printed on to the plate 30. Plates 30 and 31 are accurately located with respect to each other by pins 27 which pass through holes in the plates, and then close a switch 25. This starts a pump which evacuates the device through an opening 32 in a flexible rubber sheet 23, so causing the plates 30, 31 to be pressed closely together. After the vacuum has reached a sufficient degree, as indicated by the meter 29, the printing lamps 28 are switched on.
