Abstract

1,140,930. Calendar timepieces. SUWA SEIKOSHA K.K. Dec.15, 1967 [Dec.15, 1966(3)], No.57100/67. Heading G3T. A calendar timepiece having day and date indicating means is provided with a setting device adjustable to a plurality of positions in one of which the device is operatively connected to a mechanism for correcting the indication of the day and date indicating means, and, when so connected, rotation of the device in one direction corrects the date indication only and rotation of the device in the opposite direction corrects the day indication only. In one embodiment the setting device comprises a crown 101 and stem, 1 adjustable manually to three axial positions. In the position illustrated in Fig. 1 a clutch wheel 6 on the stem 1 is engaged with a setting wheel 7 and a lever 3 connected to the stem 1 so engages a lever 8 that an idler gear 10 is engaged with the wheel 7 and a date correcting clutch wheel 15 meshing with a day correcting clutch wheel 17. Rotation of the stem 1 counter-clockwise, as viewed in Fig. 1, will rotate the date correcting clutch wheel 15 clockwise and a date correcting wheel 16 will rotate therewith to adjust the date ring 12. The simultaneous counter-clockwise rotation imparted to the day correcting clutch wheel 17 will not rotate the day correcting wheel 18 to rotate the day star wheel 14 to which is fixed a day dial (not shown). When, however, the setting stem is rotated clockwise the resulting counter-clockwise rotation of the clutch wheel 15 will not rotate the wheel 16 and the date ring 12, whilst the resultant clockwise rotation of the clutch wheel 17 rotates the wheels 18,14 and the day dial. When the stem 1 and the crown 101 are pulled fully out the idler wheel 10 is disengaged from the wheel 15 and engaged with the minute wheel 13, so that the crown 101 may then be rotated to set the hands of the timepiece. In a third position of the stem 1 the clutch wheel 6 is disengaged from the wheel 7 and engages with a winding pinion (not shown) so that the crown 101 may be rotated to wind the main-spring. In a further embodiment (Figs.4 and 5, not shown) rotation of a date ring and a day star wheel are so governed by spring biased jumpers that rotation of the date correcting wheel to correct the date ring causes a rotation of the day correction wheel insufficient to correct the day wheel and vice versa. In a further embodiment (Figs. 6 to 8, not shown) the date correction wheel is movable between two positions dependent upon the direction of rotation of the crown to engage either the date wheel or the day correction wheel.
