Abstract

1,137,851. Making ground anchors. K. BAUER. 4 Jan., 1966, No. 281/66. Heading E1B. A process for forming a tie anchor in the ground, comprises coating a tie rod 2 with a layer 4 of hardenable synthetic resin before placing it in a body of hardenable load-bearing material 7, to form, on simultaneous hardening of the resin and the material, a tension transmitting bridge therebetween. A hole for the anchor is made by a drill pipe (1), (fig. 1). The coated rod is then placed in the pipe, (fig. 2). The pipe is partially withdrawn, and the material 7 injected through it, (fig. 3). After hardening the pipe is removed and the tie is tensioned, (fig. 4.) The tie may have a first coating 2 of plastics, which may be impregnated with quartz in the region of the coating 4. If the drill pipe has a tip, this can be left in the ground. The drill pipe may be removed before the tie rod is inserted in the material 7. The load-bearing material can be placed in a vertical bore, and the tie rod may be placed in a bore that intersects the material.
