Abstract

Heading D1C [Also in Division G1] In a method of measuring the amount of yarn used while knitting a predetermined number of courses on a warp machine, a recording medium and a marker are moved relative to one another at a speed proportional to the yarn feed speed, and the marker caused to make a mark at predetermined intervals. In one embodiment a roller pressed against the warp beam carries a paper disc on one face. The paper is marked by a pointer actuated by a solenoid which is energised when a microswitch is moved by a Bowden cable into the path of a timing chain. In modifications the recording medium may be borne by a carrier geared to the roller, the roller is entrained by a yarn.
