Abstract

1,133,944. Calender rolls. JOH. KLEINEWEFERS SÍHNE. 17 March, 1966 [24 March, 1965], No. 11728/66. Heading B5A. [Also in Division D2] A calender has a roll cambered for the maximum working load and means to deflect the roll when the load is less than the maximum. As described the bottom roll of a calender stack, having steel rolls and elastic rolls alternating is provided with main bearings and auxiliary bearings spaced outwardly therefrom and displaceable upwardly by hydraulic cylinders which may be actuated automatically in dependence on the working load. Alternatively the auxiliary bearings may be fixed with the main bearings being displaceable downwardly.
