Abstract

1,131,699. Double twist spindle. PALITEX PROJECT CO. G.m.b.H. 2 June. 1967 [6 June. 1966: 22 Aug., 1966: 18 Oct.. 1966], No. 25647/67. Heading D1D. A double twist spindle for twisting a number of yarns 22 drawn off overhead from at least two draw-off bobbins 2, 3 mounted one above each other in a stationary bobbin carrier 1 comprises a hollow holder 4 for carrying the tubular cores 5, 6 of the bobbins so that the holder can be inserted into or doffed from the spindle with the bobbins as a unit. Holder 4 may have a flange 7 to support the tubular cores or. Fig. 2, not shown, the holder may have a ball catch at its lower end to engage grooves in the inside of the cores so that the holder can be inserted in the cores from above: an internal manually operable sleeve carying a ball engaging cone is provided by which the ball catch can be released to remove the cores. The holder is provided with a gripping portion 8 and a guide tube 17. In other forms tube 17 is fixed to the central spindle or it is made removable from the top of the holder, so that one guide tube only is necessary for each spindle. Elastic means 23 or notched means may be provided to temporarily secure the loose ends of the bobbins. The holder may be extended at its upper end and provided with a scale and be linked to the yarn brake in the spindle so that an indication of the yarn brake setting is given. The yarn brake may be mounted in the top of the holder and be removable for adjustment when the bobbins are in the spindle.
