Abstract

1,130,916. Boat hull shape. STANNARD STOCKING, and J. C. STOCKING. 7 Jan., 1966, No. 942/66. Headings B7A and B7S. A dinghy comprises sides 2 and 3, forward and rear transoms 4 and 5, a V-shaped bottom 6 and spaced projections 7 and 8 depending from the bottom at the sides of the dinghy at opposite sides of its centre line, the projections 7 and 8 extending forward from the stern for twothirds of the length of the dinghy and tapering from a maximum depth at the stern until they merge with the V-shaped bottom. The inner edges of the projections are parallel to the centreline of the dinghy and form ledges 14 and 15 which merge with the V-shaped bottom. Three centres of buoyancy and drag (A), (B), (C), Fig. 3 (not shown) are formed which assist in stabilizing the dinghy against tipping, pitching and yawing. The dinghy may also be a rowing boat, motor-boat or sailing-boat and each may have a rounded or pointed bow. The space in the double bottom is filled with buoyant material 19 to provide a strong hull which may be of fibreglass construction. Other embodiments of hull may have projections of different crosssections to which fins are also attached.
