Abstract
1,124,561. Winding webs. DRUCKMA. SCHINENWERK PLANETA VEB. 24 Feb., 1966, No. 8154/66. Heading B6B. A web-winding apparatus comprises a driven spindle 13 on which the web roll 8 is wound, the spindle 13 being carried by an arm 3 pivoted about a shaft 4 and means being provided whereby the arm can be locked to the shaft 4 with the surface of the roll spaced by a distance "a" from the surface of an adjacent driven cylinder 9 over which the web passes, or the arm can be unlocked so that the roll 8 rests freely on the cylinder 9. The locking means consists of a lever 6 on the arm 3 which has an eccentric tapered edge engageable with a tapered groove in a wheel 7 adjustable about the shaft 4 by a worm and wormwheel device 2, 4 actuated by a spindle 1. In the locked position the spindle 1 can be operated manually or automatically by sensing the roll diameter to maintain a constant spacing "a" between the roll 8 and the cylinder 9. If the operator omits to actuate the shaft 1 and the roll 8 rests on the cylinder 9, the arm 3 will be moved so that the lever 6 moves automatically out of the locking wheel 7 thus avoiding damage to the parts 1, 14, 2.
