1,124,170. Hydraulic turbines and pumpturbines; oscillating vane pumps. HITACHI Ltd. April 11, 1967 [April 13, 1966], No. 16597/67. Headings F1C, F1F and F1T. A hydraulic machine such as a mixed-flow turbine or pump-turbine or a Kaplan turbine comprises runner blades 3, Fig. 1 adjusted by rotary means (i.e., an inner shaft 1) provided within the runner shaft 11, lubricant being supplied to the supporting means (i.e., spindle 4 and bearings 5) of each runner blade by a pump 2 provided within the runner hub 7 and operatively connected to the rotary means. Pumping of lubricant therefore occurs whenever the blades are adjusted, adjustment being effected by a vane-type servomotor 10 which turns the runner vanes 3 through the shaft 1 and arms 8, 9. The pump 2 comprises rotor vanes 14, Fig.2, and stator vanes 15 defining pumping chamber 12, ball check valves (18), Fig. 3 (not shown), being provided at the inlets (20) and outlets (19) of the chambers. The lubricant is pumped into an annular chamber 21 and thence via passages 6 to the bearings 5 which are preferably grooved.
