Abstract
1,118,119. Liquid-ring pumps. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. April 27, 1966 [April 28, 1965], No.18554/66. Heading F1C. In a liquid-ring vacuum pump, the control disc 1, Fig. 4, has upstream of the pressure port 2 a number of perforations 3 covered by a flexible plate 7 located by guides 8b. The plate acts as a non-return valve to permit gas to flow through the perforations to the discharge chamber in the event of over-compression, and resist return flow to the working chamber in the event of undercompression. The plate may be of corrosionresistant metal, e.g. non-rusting steel, or a synthetic plastics material which inhibits the deposition of impurities, e. g. polytetrafluoroethylene. In a known pump, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), the perforations are each associated with a ball-type non-return valve.
