Abstract

1,114,529. Shotgun cartridges. REMING- TON ARMS CO. Inc. 15 June, 1966 [15 June, 1965], No. 26796/66. Heading F3A. A shot cartridge has a case of moulded plastics material comprising a rear portion 12 which houses the charge 36 with an intermediate wad 38 and head end 30 having a primer 34, and an integral cup-shaped forward portion 20 containing the shot 44. The forward portion 20 is of smaller diameter and joined to the rear portion at a discontinuity region presenting a sloped shoulder 16. The cartridge may be used in a stepped gun bore conforming to these diameters. On firing, the forward portion breaks off and, being weakened by longitudinal slits 24, opens and falls away from the shot.
