Rotary machines.-A rotary printing-machine of the kind in which the plate and impression cylinders are divided intermediately of their length into two parts, and are provided with a central bearing as well as end bearings, is adapted for use with full-width webs, the web, which is preferably arranged longitudinally of the press, being slit longitudinally prior to printing, the two parts of the web being led to the two parts of the plate and impression cylinders. As shown in Fig. 1, the plate cylinders 1 are four plates wide and are in two parts 2, 3 supported in a central bearing 4 and end bearings 5, 6 and the impression cylinders 20 are similarly constructed and supported. The web x is fed from a reel (not shown) supported longitudinally at one side of the press in cross frames 60, 61 and is fed by a roller 56 on which it is slit by a slitter 58, the two parts of the web passing over turning bars 63, 64 into the two parts of the printing couples. The inking- rollers are preferably also made in two parts with central supports. The plate and impression cylinders and inking-rolls are driven by gearing 49 at one side of the press and the feed-roller 56 and slitter 58 are driven from the gearing 49 by gearing 57, 62. Other plate and impression cylinders similar in construction to the cylinders 1, 20 may be arranged on the left of frame 60, and fed from a reel arranged on the opposite side of the machine from that supplying the web x.
