Abstract

1,112,343. Hoppers; load handling pallets. FISONS FERTILIZERS Ltd. 28 June, 1966 [11 June, 1965], No. 24744/65. Headings B8H and B8S. A hopper for powdered or granular material, e.g. fertilizers, has a sloping floor 2, Fig. 1, a front wall 3 and a discharge passage 4 which is divided into two conduits each being controlled by a flap valve 5, a shoot 9 being pivoted at the outlet of the passage. The hopper body 1 is of glass reinforced resin and is mounted within a steel framework 10 having channels 11 for loading the hopper on to a vehicle by a fork-lift truck. Each valve 5 has a rubber wiping blade 6 and is mounted for pivotal movement on a rod 7 controlled by a lever (8), Fig. 2 (not shown). The shoot 9 is hinged to the body 1 and may be moved to cover the passage 4. The hopper top 12 has a manhole 13 closed by a lid 14. The flap valves may be operated together or separately. The framework has legs of a length to ensure that the passage 4 is above the sides of a carrying vehicle. Several hoppers may be carried on a vehicle for discharge over both of its sides. The body 1 may be of sheet steel. Means may be provided for engaging with an overhead lifting system.
